Where Am I Going?

Bible Reading:1 Samuel 2: 3-9  He will guard the feet of his faithful ones; but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness; for not by might does one prevail. —1 Samuel 2: 9

Thanks, a thousand thanks I give to God because I am able to “forget what is behind”! My errors, my failures, my sins have been erased by the “supreme calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

In Christ Jesus I am now beginning anew. In his name and by his grace, I press on toward the goal. The resolutions I made yesterday are in full force today. Tomorrow they will continue to progress toward fulfillment.

I know that it is difficult to stay on the path without stumbling, and that it is easy for the person who stumbles to fall. But I also know in whom I have believed. And I know that ” he is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him”(2 Timothy 1:12).

To him I owe a debt for pardoning what I did and forgetting what I was. My errors, my faults, my sins all stayed with him nailed on the cross. Because of him I am a new being. Because of him I am a child of God. Because he deigned to “look on my lowliness,” here I am, alone with him, kneeling in submission at his feet, kneeling because of his love.

Mine was the sin; his are the pardon and the grace. Mine was the weakness; his is the power to pursue the goal. Mine was the shame; his is and will be the glory.

What a joy it is to exclaim, “he is mine and I am his . . .”!

Prayer

Lord, yesterday I made the resolutions. Today I begin the struggle. I know that I am not fighting a battle of one day. The true victory will be in eternity. The combat has begun already, but without you, Lord, I do not have the strength to fight. You know me just as I am. Give me your strength. Give me your hand. Your blessing, give me, O God. Amen and Amen.
